Public television and radio stations have educated, informed, and inspired our nation for generations. That is why, as our new President and Congress take office, I just resolved to #ProtectPublicMedia in 2017 at protectmypublicmedia.org/tell-resolve.

Public media is a national treasure, and I hope you will join me in making a New Year’s resolution to protect the small federal investment that allows our stations to provide nationally-acclaimed kids content and music, thought-provoking news and programming, and more.

Public media stations are only able to serve our community through federal seed money, which amounts to $1.35 per American. In fact, for every $1 of federal seed money, stations raise $6.

Federal support is irreplaceable. Studies show that, without federal funding, many communities would lose access to their only source of local and noncommercial media, and we’d lose many of the programs that we love and depend on.

I hope you’ll take a minute to resolve to #ProtectPublicMedia at protectmypublicmedia.org/tell-resolve. Together, we can protect our public media this year and for generations to come.
