Gathering of Information
old.protectmypublicmedia.org asks visitors to provide certain personal information (such as your name, e-mail address, address, and telephone number) when they register for certain features or services of old.protectmypublicmedia.org, including signing up for email updates, uploading content to old.protectmypublicmedia.org through the “Tell Your Story” feature, inviting a friend to join the Protect My Public Media campaign, submitting a letter to Congress through the website, or when they post, upload, transmit and/or otherwise submit (“Submit”) a testimonial, blog comment, message, essay, photo, image, or other text, content or material (“User Materials”) through the website, including through the “Tell Your Story” feature of the website. When accessing old.protectmypublicmedia.org from a mobile device, old.protectmypublicmedia.org collects that device’s device identifier, operating system, and phone model through its third party analytics vendor. old.protectmypublicmedia.org may also ask visitors to provide personal information in other limited circumstances specified at the time the information is gathered.
Any information that you include in User Materials that you Submit to old.protectmypublicmedia.org, as part of a testimonial, blog comment, message or otherwise may become public. Any information that you Submit on or through Protect My Public Media’s social networking pages, including comments on our Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube pages, also may become public. Please be aware that third party services such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are unrelated to old.protectmypublicmedia.org and your use of those sites is subject to the terms and policies of those third parties.

Any information that you disclose when uploading content to old.protectmypublicmedia.org through the “Tell Your Story” feature, submitting a comment to a blog, or otherwise Submitting User Materials, , is likely to become public. This information may be posted on old.protectmypublicmedia.org, NPR.org, APTS.org, or the websites of local NPR and PBS member stations. In addition, old.protectmypublicmedia.org, NPR, APTS and local NPR and PBS member stations may use, copy, sublicense, modify, transmit, publically perform, display, create derivative works of, host, index, cache, tag, encode, and/or adapt any User Materials, and any information contained therein, in any and all media formats or channels, whether now known or hereafter devised, including, but not limited to, old.protectmypublicmedia.org, NPR.org, APTS.org, the websites of local NPR and PBS member stations, other third party web sites, applications, and services, over the air (on radio or television), and on mobile platforms.
In addition, if you Submit User Materials to old.protectmypublicmedia.org, we may print the User Materials, or an excerpt from the User Materials, on old.protectmypublicmedia.org, NPR.org, APTS.org, the websites of local NPR and PBS member stations, read them on air, or otherwise publish them in any other medium, together with your name and location (city, state, and/or country) if you provide that information to us.
Excluding information provided by the user when uploading content to old.protectmypublicmedia.org through the “Tell Your Story” feature, submitting a comment to a blog, or otherwise Submitting User Materials to old.protectmypublicmedia.org, which may become public as discussed above, personally-identifying information collected by old.protectmypublicmedia.org is not provided to outside parties except old.protectmypublicmedia.org service vendors, and other third parties when the user specifically consents to such distribution (such as the disclosure of your name to a friend when you send a friend an invitation to join the Protect My Public Media Campaign through the web site. In these circumstances, the information is provided for the sole purpose of––and only to the extent necessary for––delivering letters written by a user to his or her Congressional representative, providing services for and on behalf of old.protectmypublicmedia.org, or serving other internal purposes of old.protectmypublicmedia.org, NPR, APTS, local NPR and PBS member stations, or participating national public media distributors and producers. Visitors to old.protectmypublicmedia.org using a mobile device should be aware that the wireless carrier for your mobile device may collect personally-identifying information and geolocation data. Visitors should check the privacy policies of their wireless carriers for additional information.

old.protectmypublicmedia.org, with the assistance from time to time of its third party service vendors, uses non-identifying aggregate information to analyze use of and better design old.protectmypublicmedia.org and to share with third parties in aggregate form only as appropriate. For example, we may tell a third party that a certain number of users accessed a particular page of old.protectmypublicmedia.org. 13-18: You must be at least 18 years old in order to Submit any User Materials on or through old.protectmypublicmedia.org, including the “Tell Your Story” feature of the site. Visitors between the ages of 13 and 18 must obtain permission from their parents or guardians before registering for e-mail updates or newsletters, writing a letter to Congress through old.protectmypublicmedia.org, sharing the Protect My Public Media campaign with others, or any other old.protectmypublicmedia.org service that requires submitting any personally-identifying information.
Corrections to Personal Data; Opting Out
Please Contact Us to: (a) correct or update any personal information in the old.protectmypublicmedia.org database that you believe is erroneous; (b) opt-out of future communications from old.protectmypublicmedia.org; or (c) request old.protectmypublicmedia.org to make reasonable efforts to remove your personal information from old.protectmypublicmedia.org’s database, thereby canceling your old.protectmypublicmedia.org newsletter registration and other services. It may be impossible to delete personal information entirely because of backups and records of deletions.
